On Saturday, we had the corporate cup games for my work. They were held at the intramural fields at UWF, and we really had a blast. Spouses were allowed to compete, so of course I signed Ruco up, and he really had a good time as well! I think he was in heaven, because when we weren't competing in an event, I was throwing the football with him or we were playing frisbee...things he always wants to do anyway. Also, my co-workers who didnt know Ruco from his short stint volunteering with Rebuild, all had the chance to really get to know him! I also got to hang out with my friend Natalie and the second love of my life, her son Elijah in the picture down below, so I was happy! OK, so after we settled in and had some breakfast, the fun began.

I was first to compete in the dodge ball event..I was in the seventh heat so had the opportunity to watch many people play, and I was so terrified. They were very serious about this, and did not care whatsoever about hitting you in the face...so I jumped in when it was my turn, did a little, "Im terrified seriously.." jig with my hands wailing in the air, and then was disqualified because my dance caused me to step out of bounds. haha! I cant say I was much too disappointed! Then Ruco was set up to play in the "Vandy Football" event. Basically, the quarterback is blindfolded and throws you random balls and you have to see how many you can catch within a certain time frame.

Ruco did really great! But we still lost...Then I was in an even more terrifying event...the water raft relay. The man in the raft with me, Jim is the nicest man alive, but turn on the competition, and he gets SERIOUS! So, we had made this plan on how we were going to row before hand, but it didnt work! We rowed right into all the other lanes..embarrassing..and then he was trying to yell out other commands which just had me flustered, and well, we lost. haha! The last event Ruco was in the for the day was the tug of war. Our team gave it their all, but in the end, you guessed it, we lost. Oh well, it was our effort that made the difference anyway!!
Rucos mom is in South Africa right now, spending time with all her family! It is her 50th birthday November 3rd, so as a surprise, Rucos dad bought her a plane ticket!! She was soo happy! She flew out last week! I know she is having a blast with her family right now!!

She also requested that we post some pictures of little Zoe, the 3 week old kitten I found while working. However, our little Zoe found another home with our friends Jill and Justin! We were really sad, but our house was crazy, and Zoe was in love with Justin, so we knew she would be happy! I will put a picture of Zoe with her new little family here at the end!
In other news, Ruco and I FINALLY submitted our Peace Corps applications, so now that we know Rucos US citizenship date, it will just be a waiting period to hear where/when they will place us!

Im also excited because I got a little "promotion," or different work at my job! I am no longer working in the "repair" part of Rebuild. We recently received some new grants, and we are beginning a "mitigation" program. Basically, Rebuild is going to be "storm proofing" low income families homes, so that if another hurricane were to come, the low income families of Pensacola would not be as devastated. We will be putting on storm shutters, "hardening" homes, and a whole list of other things to families which qualify for our program.

Im really excited about it because I think this program will give so many families a peace of mind about living in Pensacola and their families well-being when the next hurricane season comes along! Im also excited for a little change.
Also, Ruco loves his new job working for ARC Gateway. He loves his clients and is really building relationships with them. His favorite client just got a job last week, so Ruco was really excited. But he loves hanging out with all of them, and wanted to take some of the guys fishing last weekend. I really know Pensacola is where God wants us to be right now, despite how antsy Ruco and I get to go on lots of adventures all over the place!

As promised, heres little Zoe, with her new mom Jill! Isnt she adorable, shes soo sweet!! Now she is Zoe Manny, all the way in Cincinnati, OHIO!

Hey Kristi!
Good to hear from you as always!!! Looks like you guys had a blast last weekend :-) Did your old "worries" involve being married to Ruco? I did pray hard to be with Rob forever and yes, God does take care of all that!
I already went for my interview on Sept. 11th in Jacksonville! What better day to do it, huh? It was really easy and quick... I'm just waiting for my appointment date to take my Oath. Good Luck to Ruco!! I'm sure he'll do great! Take Care!
I am so happy that ya'll have made the decision to do the Peace Corps! I am just so sad because I don't want you to be across a gigantic ocean! :( I guess I'm being a little selfish but I just love you too much and I love that you live in the same city as me for once!! :)
