This weekend was lazy and fun. On Friday night, we went to a dinner for my work. I really love so many people that I work with and am happy for the friendships we have cultivated over the last year. The picture here is of me and my friend Natalie. She is the most down to earth friend, which is something I have come to treasure so much in friendship lately. I love that I can be vulnerable and real with her and tell her all about how I've overdrawn my checking account for the tenth time and she can laugh with me. I love how she helps me safety pin and fix my clothes in the morning because everyone knows my clothes never fit me the way they are supposed to!! I also love the fact that we share a heart for traveling, and she dreams of when she and her husband can travel all around the world (her husband is in the military.) We are definately kindred spirits, and i love her! On Saturday, Ruco and I hung out at Barnes and Noble and finished up our Christmas shopping for Ruco's family. His dad is in Michigan right now for work, so we are trying to send all the gifts to Michigan rather than try and send them to France.

On Sunday, we went to church, breakfast with my family, and then I went over to Christi's. We went to Michaels and bought things to make our own Christmas decorations. We both made wreaths (they are so pretty) and we also spraypainted some letters for mine and Rucos mantle that spell JOY! We painted them gold, but unfortunately, I had to leave them at the Tyner home since they were still not dry, so i will try to post some pictures of my homemade "JOY" another time! This weekend, we are going to the Dave Crowder/Third Day concert with our youth group, and I am really so excited!
In other news, Ruco and I got a call yesterday from Peace Corps to let us know we are wanted to head up a new HIV/AIDS education program in schools somewhere in Africa next September. They are not sure exactly which country we will be placed in as of yet, but they are sure that we will be in Africa, and we are supposedly recommended for somewhere in southern Africa. I really cant express how excited I am. We will be doing exactly what I have felt called to do since my senior year at FSU.
I remember calling my mom from Tallahassee and saying "Mom, I just watched this video on Jars of Clay's Blood:Water Mission, and I know that I definately want to work somehow in Africa with the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and I definately want to work with children!" Yesterday at work when I found out, I was running around my office telling all my friends!

I am so excited because Ruco and I will be working together, and we will be talking about abstaining from sex until marriage (since abstinence is the only way to prevent HIV!) and we can share how we waited until marriage, and how our first reason for doing this is because of our relationship with Christ. I definately think this job is going to be such an awesome witness tool, and its so cool to see how God has orchestrated all of this to take place. So, we will be there for two years, and while it seems like a long time to me, I know that it will be such an awesome experience we will be able to look back on all our lives. Im so excited! I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Kristi, that is just awesome!!! Let me tell you that when I started school I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I could see myself in years to come...but when I got to UWF and signed up for Health Education....for some reason I felt like working with HIV/AIDS patients would be something I would really enjoy doing. I'm so excited for you!! That is the most amazing gift someone can recieve. When they are finally placed where God wants them to be!! You will definately be in my prayers the next 3 years :)
YAY Kristi!! I'm so excited for you and Ruco! That is such an amazing opportunity. I think it is a beautiful thing that you guys have the same passions and desires in your hearts. It's so great that you guys will get to share your relationship with God and each other to these people! I'm really excited for you!!
YAY for Kristi and Ruco!! Ya'll really are taking steps to change the world...and that's amazing. To look outside yourself and to want to help others is a great quality to have and you have ALWAYS possessed that. What are you going to do with Zulu?? If you can't take him I know a nice, new house he can stay in while ya'll are gone... :)
By the way, you look very pretty in that first picture of you and your coworker! Ooohh la la!!
Tori I admire you and your courage to go after your big dream! It's so reassuring to know that there are people like you with such a clear vision and a heart so brave...
