During our Pastor training seminars, pastors were taught a method of Bible story telling. The method helps people retain the stories better because not many people own their own Bibles. On the last day of the training, each pastor and church leader gets a new Bible which is printed in their local language. They were beaming with pride at having received those Bibles!
During a session where we were discussing Adam and Eve, one lady raised her hand. She said she didn't understand--if man's punishment for sin is to toil over the land for food, why are all the women in Uganda plowing the fields?? We all laughed, because she really did have a good point! Women here do around 90 % of the work in the home...including working in the fields, babies on their backs and all.
Another man said that he was amazed that even before Adam knew what he needed or wanted, God gave him a wife. He didn't have to ask, God just provided. That man was so right. God does always provide what we need and what we want even before we know what that is! God is definitely teaching me that He is my shepherd (Psalm 23:1-2.) He knows where the green pastures are and where I can find still water. If I only TRUST him and follow Him, He will meet my needs at exactly the right time. By His very nature, He cares for me.
